First Period

The opening period saw both teams locked in a defensive battle, with neither side able to find the back of the net. The Avalanche managed to put pressure on the Rangers' defense with 42 shots throughout the game but were unable to capitalize early on.

Second Period

In the second period, Colorado finally broke through with a goal from Parker Kelly, who capitalized on an assist from Sam Malinski. This gave them a slight edge going into what would be an intense third period.

Third Period

The third period saw increased intensity as both teams fought hard for control. Nathan MacKinnon showcased his offensive prowess by scoring one of his two goals during this time, further solidifying his status as one of Colorado's key players. However, New York responded with two goals of their own, leveling the score and setting up a dramatic finish.

Overtime

With overtime underway and tensions high at Madison Square Garden, it was again Nathan MacKinnon who stepped up for Colorado. His decisive goal secured victory for the Avs and highlighted why he remains such an integral part of their lineup.

Despite strong performances from Igor Shesterkin in goal for New York and Mackenzie Blackwood's crucial saves for Colorado, it was ultimately MacKinnon's heroics that made all difference in this encounter.
