In a sunny Anaheim afternoon at Angel Stadium, the Angels were unable to capitalize on their opportunities despite out-hitting the Rays with a total of nine hits to seven. The home team's efforts were not reflected in runs as they left sixteen runners on base throughout the game. The Angels' batting average stood at .257 and they managed an on-base percentage (OBP) of .316. Their slugging percentage (SLG) was .400, combining for an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of .716.

The offensive highlight for the Angels came from their ability to convert one out of nine attempts with runners in scoring position (RISP), which resulted in two runs batted in (RBI). They also showcased speed on the bases with a successful stolen base attempt.

On defense, the Angels displayed efficiency by committing no errors and maintaining a perfect fielding percentage (FPCT) of 1.0 across thirty-four total chances. They also demonstrated strong pitching from their bullpen which posted an earned run average (ERA) of 0.0 over five innings pitched, allowing only one hit and achieving six strikeouts.

However, it was not enough to overcome early setbacks as starting pitching gave up four earned runs over four innings which contributed significantly to their loss. This included one home run that added to Tampa Bay's early lead.
