Angels' Struggle Continues: Can They Break the Spell Against the Cubs?

The Los Angeles Angels faced off against the Chicago Cubs in a game that saw both teams fighting for dominance. The Angels, with a season record of 37-52, were unable to secure runs against the Cubs, who improved their record to 42-49 with a final score of 5-0. Despite their efforts, the Angels could only muster 3 hits throughout the game and committed no errors, while the Cubs capitalized on their 7 hits despite committing one error.

The Angels' pitching staff had a challenging day at Wrigley Field. José Soriano was credited with the loss, bringing his season tally to 4 wins and 7 losses. Soriano's performance resulted in an ERA of 5.4 after allowing several runs over his innings pitched. The bullpen saw Matthew Moore struggle significantly, ending up with an ERA of 18.0 after conceding multiple runs in just one inning pitched.

On offense, Kevin Pillar stood out for the Angels by achieving a perfect batting average of 1.000 from his sole at-bat which unfortunately did not translate into any runs for his team. Taylor Ward and Brandon Drury each managed to hit .250; however, their efforts were insufficient to ignite a rally for the Angels.

The Chicago Cubs found success through strategic plays and solid pitching performances from Hayden Wesneski who secured another win for his team making it his third win of the season alongside Héctor Neris who notched up his twelfth save.

As they look ahead, The Los Angeles Angels are set to host Texas Rangers at Angel Stadium in Anaheim on July 8th at 9:38 PM EDT. Fans can catch all action live on BSW as both teams aim to make their mark in this highly anticipated matchup.
