Angels' Early Spark Fizzles as Tigers Roar Back in Anaheim Showdown

The Los Angeles Angels faced off against the Detroit Tigers at Angel Stadium, resulting in a 10-4 victory for the visiting team. This game marked the Angels' record at 12-18, while the Tigers improved to 20-12. Despite an early lead by the Halos, they were unable to maintain momentum against a resilient Motor City Kitties squad.

Angels Start Strong but Fade

The Angels began with promise as they scored their first run in the second inning and added two more in the third. Jorge Soler was instrumental during this period, hitting a home run and driving in two runs. However, after scoring another run in the fourth inning, their bats fell silent for the remainder of the game.

Travis d'Arnaud also contributed significantly with his performance at bat, achieving an impressive .667 average from three appearances and securing two hits. Despite these efforts from key players like Soler and d'Arnaud, who showcased solid offensive skills early on, it wasn't enough to stave off Detroit's comeback.

Tigers Rally Late

The Tigs remained scoreless until breaking through with two runs in the third inning. Their offense truly ignited during a five-run eighth inning followed by three more runs in the ninth. The Angels' bullpen struggled to contain this surge; José Fermin managed an impressive strikeout rate of 27 per nine innings pitched but couldn't prevent Detroit's late-game rally.

Garrett McDaniels started strong for Los Angeles with a respectable ERA of 3.6 over five innings pitched but received little support from his relief pitchers who allowed eight earned runs collectively.
