In what was an uphill battle for the Astros at Wrigley Field, their offense struggled to gain momentum against the Cubs' pitching. The team's batting average stood at .182 for the game, managing only six hits throughout nine innings. Despite this challenge, there were notable performances including a home run that contributed to one of their two runs batted in (RBI). However, opportunities were missed as evidenced by leaving seven runners on base (LOB) and achieving just one hit from four at-bats with runners in scoring position (RISP).

On defense, the Astros showed resilience but ultimately fell short. Their fielding percentage was recorded at .969 after an interference error allowed additional pressure from the Cubs' offense. The pitching staff had moments where they contained their opponents but also gave up critical plays including three home runs that significantly impacted their earned run average (ERA), which stood at 6.75 by game's end.

The bullpen provided some relief over three innings pitched (IP), maintaining an ERA of 3.0 and striking out four batters; however, it wasn't enough to stifle the early lead established by Chicago in the first inning where they scored five runs.

The Cubs capitalized on every opportunity presented to them during this matchup. They showcased discipline at bat drawing seven walks and demonstrated power hitting three home runs which contributed heavily to their total run count.

As fans look ahead, they can mark their calendars for another encounter between these two teams as part of this series. The next game is scheduled for April 24th at Wrigley Field in Chicago where fans can tune into SCHN network for live coverage starting around 6:40 PM local time.
