The Braves opened their scoring in the second inning with two runs, capitalizing on two hits and an error by the Cubs. They extended their lead with another run in the fourth inning thanks to two more hits. Despite these efforts and accumulating five hits throughout the game, they could not maintain their lead. The team's hitters struggled overall, posting a batting average of .139 with three runs batted in (RBI) but left ten runners on base which highlighted missed opportunities.

On the pitching side for Atlanta, their bullpen showed resilience despite ultimately conceding the winning run. Over 4.1 innings pitched by relievers, they managed to keep their ERA at 0.0 while striking out two batters but allowed two unearned runs due to defensive errors.
