Braves' Eighth-Inning Surge Seals Victory Over Cubs at Wrigley Field

The Atlanta Braves improved their record to 29-18 with a decisive 3-0 win over the Chicago Cubs, who now stand at 27-24. The game, held at Wrigley Field, saw the Braves capitalize on key moments to secure their victory.

The Braves' offense was relatively quiet through the first four innings, managing only one hit. However, they broke through in the fifth inning with a run scored off one hit. The pivotal moment came in the eighth inning when Atlanta added two more runs on two hits, solidifying their lead. Overall, the Braves accumulated six hits and three walks throughout the game.


On defense, Atlanta was flawless with no errors recorded. Their pitching staff delivered an outstanding performance. Dylan Lee earned his first win of the season by contributing significantly from the bullpen. Joe Jiménez and Pierce Johnson each recorded holds while Raisel Iglesias secured his twelfth save of the season.

The Cubs struggled offensively against Atlanta's pitchers, managing only four hits throughout nine innings without scoring any runs. Hayden Wesneski took his third loss of the season for Chicago despite a strong effort from their bullpen.


Atlanta's pitching staff was dominant from start to finish. The starters faced 18 batters and allowed only three hits while striking out four batters over 4⅓ innings pitched. The bullpen continued this trend by facing 16 batters and allowing just one hit while striking out five over 4⅔ innings pitched.

Chicago’s hitters were unable to find any rhythm against Atlanta’s pitchers as they left eleven runners on base during critical moments of play.
