The Brewers showcased resilience and strategic hitting throughout the match. Despite accumulating only six hits compared to the Cardinals' twelve, Milwaukee capitalized on their opportunities, scoring five runs. A pivotal moment came in the seventh inning when the Brewers scored three runs off two hits, demonstrating their ability to leverage crucial moments.

Milwaukee's pitching staff played a significant role in securing this victory. The bullpen was particularly effective, with Hoby Milner earning his first win of the season after a flawless performance that included no earned runs and three strikeouts over three innings pitched. Bryan Hudson and JoJo Romero contributed with holds, further stifling any comeback attempts by St. Louis.

On offense, Milwaukee's hitters showed patience at the plate drawing five walks and were aggressive on base paths stealing one base successfully which contributed to their overall strategy of pressuring St. Louis' defense.

The Cardinals did not go down without a fight; they managed twelve hits and scored two runs in the fifth inning followed by another run in the sixth inning bringing them within striking distance of Milwaukee's lead. However, despite out-hitting Milwaukee significantly with twelve hits including two doubles among them they struggled to convert these into more runs due largely to Milwaukee’s tight defensive play which did not commit any errors throughout nine innings.
