First Inning

The game began with both teams struggling to find their rhythm offensively. The Brewers managed two hits but failed to convert them into runs, while the Cardinals went hitless in their opening inning.

Second Inning

The second inning proved pivotal for the Redbirds as they capitalized on four hits, scoring all three of their runs during this frame. This offensive burst set the tone for what would be a challenging game for Milwaukee.

Fourth and Fifth Innings

Milwaukee responded in the fourth inning when Jake Bauers contributed significantly by driving in one of his team's two runs with a solo home run. The fifth inning saw another run added by Andrew Vaughn's efforts, narrowing the gap and keeping hope alive for a comeback.

Sixth Inning Onwards

From the sixth inning onwards, both teams' defenses tightened up considerably. Notably, Milwaukee's bullpen was exceptional throughout these innings, allowing no additional runs from St. Louis and striking out ten batters over five innings of work.

Despite these efforts from pitchers like Joel Payamps and Grant Anderson who showcased impressive strikeout rates of 18 k9 and 27 k9 respectively in previous games, it wasn't enough to overcome St. Louis’s early lead.

In post-game interviews with members of Brew Crew such as Danny Jansen who had an impactful performance with one hit out of three at-bats contributing one run scored; there was an acknowledgment that while defensive plays were strong - particularly highlighted by zero errors committed - more consistent offensive output is needed moving forward.
