Cardinals Outslugged at Home: Brewers Take the Win

The St. Louis Cardinals now stand at 9-12 after a challenging game against the Milwaukee Brewers, who improved their record to 13-6. The final score of 12-5 reflected a day where the Cardinals' efforts fell short against a potent Brewers lineup.

The game unfolded with both teams showing strength in the opening inning, each scoring runs and setting an energetic tone. The Cardinals managed to put up one run on one hit, while the Brewers matched with two runs on two hits. Momentum built for St. Louis in the second inning as they capitalized on three hits to bring in three runs, but this early lead was soon overshadowed by Milwaukee's relentless offense.

As the innings progressed, it became evident that it was not going to be an easy day for Cardinals pitchers. The bullpen struggled significantly, surrendering seven runs over 4.1 innings pitched and ending with an ERA of 12.462 for the day; overall pitching saw nine earned runs across nine innings with an ERA of 11.0 and a WHIP of 2.2222.

Offensively, despite some bright spots like driving in five RBIs and securing eight walks which contributed to an on-base percentage (OBP) of .366, St Louis couldn't maintain their momentum throughout all nine innings – only managing six hits compared to Milwaukee's eighteen.

Fielding also proved challenging for the home team as they committed one error contributing to their .974 fielding percentage (FPCT). Meanwhile, Milwaukee played error-free baseball which helped them maintain their lead throughout.
