The Cardinals set the tone early in the game by scoring two runs in the first inning on two hits. This early lead was crucial for setting the pace of the game. The team added another run in the fifth inning, bringing their total runs to three off six hits throughout the game. Fielding was another area where St. Louis excelled; they committed no errors throughout nine innings while turning several plays that kept White Sox runners from advancing into scoring position.


Conversely, Chicago struggled to find their rhythm against St. Louis's pitchers and defense. They managed only three hits all game and were unable to capitalize on any scoring opportunities presented to them.
