The St. Louis Cardinals are set to face off against the Chicago Cubs at Busch Stadium on May 26, 2024, at 6:10 PM CDT. Fans can catch the action live on ESPN.

The Cardinals have had a mixed performance in their recent games. In their last three matchups against the Baltimore Orioles, they secured one win and two losses. The most notable victory came with a solid offensive display where they scored six runs on eight hits, including four extra-base hits and a home run.

However, inconsistency has plagued their offense in other games. For instance, in one of the losses against Baltimore, they managed only two hits and no runs despite having multiple opportunities with runners in scoring position (RISP). Their batting average over these games hovered around .192 with an on-base percentage of .301.

Pitching has been another area of concern for St. Louis. While their bullpen showed resilience by allowing just one earned run across three games, starting pitchers struggled to maintain control and efficiency. The starters posted an ERA close to 2.0 but allowed too many base runners due to walks and hit batters.

Defensively, errors have also been an issue for the Cardinals as they committed four errors over three games which contributed to unearned runs that proved costly.

On the other hand, the Cubs come into this game with strong pitching performances recently that could challenge St. Louis's hitters further. The key for the Cardinals will be capitalizing on scoring opportunities while minimizing defensive mistakes.

As both teams prepare for this crucial matchup at Busch Stadium—a venue known for its passionate fans and challenging playing conditions—the Cardinals will need a balanced effort from both their offense and pitching staff to secure a victory against their division rivals from Chicago.
