The Cardinals managed to score their only runs in the third inning, showcasing their potential but ultimately falling short against a resilient Cubs team. Despite having only four hits throughout the game compared to eleven by the Cubs, it was an intense matchup that highlighted key moments and performances from both teams.

On pitching duties, Miles Mikolas started for St. Louis but struggled on this occasion with an earned run average (ERA) of 9.0 across his innings pitched and a walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP) ratio standing at 2.5 which contributed significantly to their defeat.

Matthew Liberatore provided some relief from the bullpen with an ERA of 0 and WHIP of .75 while striking out batters at an impressive rate of 13.5 per nine innings pitched; however, it wasn't enough to turn around their fortunes.
