Cardinals' Strong Start

The Cardinals began with promise, scoring 1 run in the first inning and adding another 2 runs in the third inning. Masyn Winn stood out with an impressive .750 batting average and maintained a perfect fielding percentage throughout this matchup. Willson Contreras also contributed significantly with a .500 batting average and drove in one of St. Louis's runs.

However, after their initial success, St. Louis struggled offensively for much of the game. The Birds managed only nine hits overall and failed to score beyond their third-inning surge.

Mets' Dominant Comeback

On defense, Sonny Gray started on the mound for St. Louis but faced challenges early on with an ERA of 8.308 over his innings pitched; he allowed multiple hits that led to scoring opportunities for New York's batters who capitalized effectively during key moments such as when they scored four runs during just one inning alone (5th).

Meanwhile from New York’s side - Pete Alonso was instrumental by hitting home runs which helped propel them forward past any potential setbacks encountered earlier within gameplay itself! Their bullpen held firm too allowing minimal chances thereafter thus securing win ultimately achieved here tonight!
