Cardinals' Recent Struggles

The Cardinals have had a rollercoaster season so far, with their recent performances leaving much to be desired. In their last outing against the New York Mets on May 2, they suffered a tough loss with a score of 9-3. The Cards' pitching staff struggled significantly in that game, allowing an alarming number of hits and runs. Their starting pitcher had an ERA of over 8 and allowed two home runs in just over four innings pitched.

However, it's not all doom and gloom for the Redbirds. On April 30 against the Cincinnati Reds, they showcased their potential by securing a commanding victory with a scoreline of 9-1. The Cards' offense was firing on all cylinders during that game as they managed eight hits including two home runs which were crucial in building an early lead.

Despite these inconsistencies, there is hope for improvement as they prepare to take on the Nats. If St. Louis can harness some of that offensive prowess seen against Cincinnati while tightening up their pitching rotation's performance from recent games like those against New York or Cincinnati (May 1), there's every chance they'll emerge victorious.

Nationals' Home Advantage

On paper though it seems like Washington might hold some advantage playing at home; however past performances suggest otherwise when considering how well STL has played away recently - particularly during April's doubleheader win versus CIN where strong defensive plays coupled alongside timely hitting led them towards success despite being visitors themselves!
