First Inning

The game began with both teams eager to set an early tone. The Orioles capitalized on a fielding error by the Cards in the first inning, which allowed them to score their initial run. This early mistake seemed to foreshadow further challenges for St. Louis throughout the game.

Fourth Inning

As play continued into the fourth inning, Baltimore extended its lead significantly by scoring three runs on two hits and another error from St. Louis' defense. This surge put pressure on Cardinals’ starter Erick Fedde, who struggled with his control despite striking out five batters over five innings pitched.

Fifth Inning

In response during their half of the fifth inning, Nolan Gorman and Brendan Donovan provided some hope for St. Louis fans when they each contributed hits that led to two runs being scored—accounting for all of Redbirds’ offense that day.

Eighth Inning

Despite these efforts from key players like Gorman—who maintained an impressive .667 average—and Donovan’s solid performance both offensively (.333 average) and defensively (fielding percentage .875), it was not enough as Baltimore's bullpen shut down any further attempts by limiting additional hits or runs through effective pitching strategies late into innings seven through nine.
