First Inning

The game began with promise for the Cardinals, who quickly got on the scoreboard in the first inning. With two hits and capitalizing on an error by Toronto, they managed to bring in one run. This early lead was bolstered by Yohel Pozo's solid performance behind home plate and Masyn Winn's consistent fielding efforts, both contributing to maintaining defensive stability.

Second Inning

Continuing their initial push, St. Louis added another run in the second inning thanks to Willson Contreras’ impressive hitting prowess; he maintained an average of .667 from his previous game performance and delivered under pressure once more. However, despite these efforts and securing one hit during this period, they couldn't extend their lead further.
