In their last outing on March 23rd against the Milwaukee Brewers, despite being out-hit 10-7, they managed to keep errors off the board. However, a late surge by Milwaukee saw them fall 7-4 in a game that highlighted both offensive struggles and bullpen vulnerabilities. The Cubs' hitting statistics were not particularly impressive with an average of .200 and an on-base percentage (OBP) of .222. Their slugging percentage (SLG) stood at .371 which indicates some power behind their hits but not enough consistency.

The bullpen's performance was concerning as well; with an earned run average (ERA) soaring at 12.6 over five innings pitched, it's clear that improvements are needed if they wish to contain teams like Seattle who have been known for their offensive prowess.

On March 22nd versus San Francisco Giants, another defeat was recorded with a scoreline of 7-3 in favor of Giants. This time errors crept into play which contributed to one unearned run out of seven total runs allowed by pitchers who again struggled with control and execution leading to a WHIP (Walks plus Hits per Inning Pitched) of over two – far from ideal.

However, there is always room for optimism as baseball is unpredictable by nature. On another day prior (March 22nd), we witnessed what this Cubs team can do when firing on all cylinders – amassing twelve runs against San Francisco Giants while committing three errors defensively but still coming out victorious due largely thanks to explosive offense including three home runs and eight hits with runners in scoring position.

This kind of offensive output will be crucial when facing Mariners' pitching staff which has shown vulnerability throughout spring training games thus far. If Chicago can replicate this level of aggression at bat while tightening up defensively then there’s every chance they could walk away from Peoria Sports Complex as victors.

Cubs fans should look forward to seeing how manager David Ross adjusts his lineup and approach following these recent games - whether it means shuffling defensive positions or perhaps giving more opportunities for players who have shown promise during spring training sessions so far this year.

The scheduled game between Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners will take place on March 24th at Peoria Sports Complex located in Arizona starting promptly at 1:10 PM MST.
