Can Cubs Overcome Braves in a Windy City Duel?

In the heart of Chicago, at the iconic Wrigley Field, an intriguing matchup is on the horizon as the Chicago Cubs prepare to host the Atlanta Braves. This game promises to be more than just another day on the calendar; it's a chance for redemption and a test of resilience for the Cubs.

The recent performances by both teams have set an interesting stage for this encounter. The Cubs, despite their struggles in previous games, including a shutout loss against the Braves on May 15th where they managed only 3 hits and no runs, have shown glimpses of potential that could turn their fortunes around. Their batting average stood at a mere .100 during that game, with an OPS (On-base Plus Slugging) of .289 – numbers far from impressive but not indicative of their true potential.

On May 13th against Atlanta again, despite another loss where they failed to score any runs and amassed only 5 hits with an OPS of .409, it was clear that opportunities were created but not capitalized upon. This pattern continued into their game against Pittsburgh Pirates on May 12th where they finally found some rhythm scoring 5 runs off 9 hits in an extra innings thriller but ultimately fell short.

The Braves have been formidable opponents this season with consistent hitting and strong pitching performances as seen in their victory over the Cubs on May 15th. However, baseball is unpredictable and past performance is not always indicative of future results.

The key for the Cubs lies in improving their batting performance significantly. With a hitting average that has fluctuated around .100 to .237 in recent games and leaving multiple runners stranded on base (LOB), there's much room for improvement. The team needs to capitalize on scoring opportunities when runners are in scoring positions (RISP), something they struggled with immensely during these past encounters.

Pitching also remains critical; while there have been moments where both starters and bullpen managed to keep run counts low across various innings, consistency will be crucial against a Braves lineup known for its ability to exploit any weaknesses.

As we look ahead to May 21st at Wrigley Field under what promises to be clear skies according to forecasts – perfect baseball weather – fans are left wondering if this could be the turning point for CHC. Will they leverage home advantage effectively? Or will ATL continue its dominance?

This upcoming duel offers CHC not just a chance at revenge but also an opportunity to make a statement about their resilience and determination moving forward into the season.

Fans eager not to miss out can catch all action live from Wrigley Field starting at 6:40 PM local time (Chicago) broadcasted exclusively on BSSO network.
