The game was characterized by low hitting from both teams, each managing only five hits throughout the nine innings. However, it was the Brewers who capitalized on their opportunities, scoring all four runs in a single inning. The Cubs' efforts yielded two runs in the fourth inning but were not enough to overcome Milwaukee's lead.

Chicago's pitching staff had a mixed performance with an overall earned run average (ERA) of 3.375 for the game and a strikeouts per nine innings (K9) rate of 6.75. Jameson Taillon, starting pitcher for the Cubs, recorded an ERA of 4.5 and a whip of .8333 over six innings pitched but ultimately took the loss.
