The game was characterized by strong pitching performances from both teams, with each side limiting their opponents to just seven hits. However, it was the Brewers who managed to capitalize on their opportunities, scoring their lone run in the eighth inning. The Cubs' pitchers held a combined earned run average (ERA) of 1.0 over nine innings, striking out six batters and walking four. Jameson Taillon started for the Cubs and delivered an impressive performance with an ERA of 1.227 across more than seven innings pitched.

Offensively, Nico Hoerner stood out for the Cubs with a batting average of .400 and an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of 1.0 during this matchup but unfortunately couldn't convert these into runs for his team. Dansby Swanson also contributed significantly with a .500 batting average and an OPS of 1.0.

Despite these efforts, the Cubs struggled to bring runners home, leaving ten on base throughout the game and failing to score any runs against Milwaukee's defense which remained error-free throughout all nine innings.

Looking ahead, fans can catch the next game between these two teams scheduled for July 24th at Wrigley Field in Chicago. The match is set to begin at 2:20 PM EDT and will be broadcasted on MARQ network.
