The Diamondbacks wasted no time asserting their dominance, racking up three runs from three hits in the opening inning alone. This early surge set a precedent for Arizona's performance throughout the game. They extended their lead by adding another run in the second inning off two hits and took advantage of an error by San Francisco. Their prowess continued into the third inning with two more runs off three hits.

Despite missing scoring opportunities in both fourth and sixth innings due to defensive mishaps, Arizona managed to score one run each in both fifth and ninth innings, culminating in their total score for the night.

Randal Grichuk was particularly outstanding for Arizona, boasting a .600 batting average and driving in three runs from five at-bats which significantly bolstered his team's offensive efforts. Corbin Carroll and Kevin Newman also made significant contributions with matching .400 batting averages.

Pitching played a pivotal role for Arizona as well; Ryne Nelson delivered an exceptional start on the mound that curtailed San Francisco's scoring capabilities by maintaining an earned run average (ERA) of 2.7 across more than six innings pitched—a key factor in clinching this narrow victory.

The Giants displayed commendable resilience throughout all nine innings but couldn't surmount Arizona's early lead despite rallying back with four runs during the eighth inning. Their attempt at a comeback fell short as they added one final run during ninth inning but ultimately couldn't overcome Diamondback’s bullpen which held them off despite facing challenges from opposing batters who matched eleven hits over course of game just like Diamondbacks did however committing three errors compared only one made by visitors proved costly end result being close yet favorable outcome for team from Phoenix.
