In an impressive display of offense, the Arizona Diamondbacks outplayed the Oakland Athletics with a final score of 11-3. This victory improved the Diamondbacks' preseason record to 15-12, while the Athletics fell to 14-13. Diamondbacks' Offensive Onslaught


The Diamondbacks set the tone early in the game by scoring six runs within the first two innings. Their relentless attack was highlighted by a .436 batting average and an on-base percentage (OBP) of .476 throughout the game. Key contributors included Ildemaro Vargas who had an outstanding performance with an .800 batting average and Pavin Smith who drove in four runs on a .750 batting average. Additionally, Jack Hurley and Joshua-Douglas Naylor both contributed significantly with a .500 batting average each.


Pitching and Defense Seal Victory


On the mound, Zachary Gallen led with a commendable start for the Diamondbacks by maintaining an ERA of 2.077 over more than four innings pitched, contributing to his team's win. The bullpen also held strong; Taylor Rashi and Scott McGough both showcased exceptional skill by not allowing any earned runs and striking out batters at rates of 18 K/9 each.


The defense was flawless throughout nine innings as evidenced by their perfect fielding percentage (FPCT) of 1.0 across all positions. This defensive solidity played a crucial role in limiting the Athletics to only three runs on seven hits.
