Diamondbacks' Performance Highlights

The game unfolded with both teams showcasing their defensive and offensive skills. The Diamondbacks' pitching staff held strong against the Orioles' lineup, maintaining an impressive earned run average (ERA) of 2.0 across nine innings. Merrill Kelly started on the mound for Arizona, contributing six innings with an ERA of 3.0 and striking out six batters, which was crucial in setting the tone for the game.

Offensively, Pavin Smith stood out by hitting .500 including slugging at an impressive rate of 1.0 over two at-bats but didn't contribute any RBIs this time around. Corbin Carroll also made significant contributions with his bat, achieving an average of .667 and slugging percentage of 1.667 from three at-bats which included getting on base three-quarters of his appearances.

Joshua-Douglas Naylor's performance was noteworthy as well; he drove in two runs for his team while batting .333 and managing an on-base percentage (OBP) of .5 from three plate appearances.

Orioles' Efforts Fall Short

Despite their loss, the Baltimore Orioles showed tenacity throughout all nine innings. Their pitchers limited Arizona to just five hits but were ultimately let down by their offense that could only muster four hits against Diamondback pitchers who collectively posted a whip (walks plus hits per inning pitched) as low as .6667.

The Orioles attempted to rally late in the game by scoring one run in the seventh inning due to fielding errors by Arizona but couldn't overcome their early deficit fully.
