First Inning

The opening innings saw both teams struggling to find their rhythm offensively. The Diamondbacks were unable to register any hits or runs in the first two innings, as they faced strong pitching from the Cardinals' starter. Similarly, St. Louis was kept at bay by Arizona's pitching staff, who allowed no hits through two innings.

Fourth Inning

The fourth inning marked a turning point for Arizona when Ketel Marte stepped up and delivered an impressive solo home run, giving the D-Backs their first run of the game and breaking the scoreless tie. This moment injected some much-needed energy into Arizona's lineup as they looked to build momentum.

Sixth Inning

However, it was during this inning that St. Louis made their move with an offensive surge that would ultimately decide the game's outcome. The Redbirds capitalized on key opportunities and managed to score four runs on two hits against Zac Gallen's pitching efforts for Arizona. This rally put them ahead 4-1 going into later innings.
