First Inning

The opening inning set a defensive tone for both teams as neither side managed to score. The Diamondbacks and Braves each went down in order without registering any hits or runs. This pattern continued through much of the early innings as both pitching staffs demonstrated control and precision.

Third Inning

In a breakthrough moment during the third inning, Arizona's offense finally made an impact. With one hit and strategic base running, they managed to bring home their first run of the game. This early lead was crucial for setting up their eventual victory.

Fifth Inning

As we moved into mid-game action in the fifth inning, both teams showed resilience on defense but struggled offensively. The D-Backs recorded two hits but were unable to convert these opportunities into additional runs due to Atlanta's solid fielding efforts.

Ninth Inning

The ninth inning proved pivotal for Arizona as they added another run with two key hits that ultimately sealed their victory over Atlanta. Despite allowing one run from three hits throughout nine innings played by Atlanta’s lineup - including an impressive performance from Merrill Kelly who pitched seven scoreless innings - it was this late offensive push that secured success for his team today against strong competition like those found within Major League Baseball (MLB).
