First Inning

The game began with both teams displaying strong defensive plays. The Dodgers struggled to find their rhythm early on as they went hitless in the first two innings. Meanwhile, the Cardinals managed to get one hit but failed to capitalize on it as both teams remained scoreless.

Middle Innings

As the game progressed into the middle innings, pitching dominated for both sides. The Dodgers' starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto showcased his skills with an impressive performance over six innings without allowing any runs and striking out nine batters. On offense for Los Angeles, Mookie Betts continued his consistent form from previous games by getting on base twice through walks but was left stranded each time due to lackluster support from teammates who couldn't convert opportunities into runs.

Eighth Inning

In what seemed like a turning point moment during eighth inning action when Tommy Edman of St.Louis finally broke through against LA's bullpen scoring one run after three hits which gave them slight edge heading towards final stretch . This put pressure back onto visiting side needing quick response if they wanted chance pulling ahead before time ran out completely .
