The Giants' offense was relatively quiet through the first five innings, failing to register any hits or runs. However, they broke through in the sixth inning with two hits and one run. Despite this initial breakthrough, they were unable to capitalize further until late in the game.

In contrast, the Mets managed to get on the scoreboard early with one run in both the second and seventh innings. Their four total hits throughout the game highlighted their struggles against a dominant Giants pitching staff that allowed only two earned runs.

San Francisco's bullpen was particularly effective, allowing just one hit and striking out six batters over five innings of work. Luke Jackson earned his third win of the season by keeping New York scoreless during his time on the mound.

The pivotal moment came in extra innings when San Francisco erupted for five runs on three hits and an error by New York's defense. This offensive surge was enough to secure their victory as they held off any potential comeback from their opponents.

Defensively, both teams committed one error each but it was San Francisco’s ability to capitalize on opportunities that made all difference. The Giants’ fielding unit also contributed seven assists while recording thirty putouts without allowing any stolen bases from New York.
