The Mariners set the tone early in the game by scoring one run in the first inning off three hits. Despite not adding to their score in the middle innings, they kept pressure on the Astros' defense. The pivotal moment came in the eighth inning when Seattle capitalized on their opportunities by scoring three runs off three hits and an error by Houston. This late surge proved decisive as it brought the final score to 4-2.

Seattle's hitters had a total of seven hits throughout the game with a batting average of .233 and an on-base percentage of .281. They managed to convert these opportunities into four crucial runs. Notably, they were successful in all of their stolen base attempts which showcased their aggressive base running strategy.

On the pitching side, Seattle's bullpen was exceptional, allowing no runs over three innings with an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio of 4:1 and maintaining an ERA of 0.0 for this period. The overall pitching staff for Seattle ended with an ERA of 2.0 across nine innings while striking out ten batters and keeping Houston's batting average to .156.

The Astros managed five hits against Mariners' pitchers but struggled to capitalize fully on these chances except for during a brief rally in the fourth inning where they scored two runs off two hits. However, this effort wasn't enough as they couldn't overcome Seattle's lead.
