The game unfolded at loanDepot park in Miami, where both teams showcased their offensive and defensive skills. The Mariners managed to accumulate a total of seven hits throughout the game but were unable to convert these opportunities into enough runs to secure victory. Despite not committing any errors and demonstrating solid fielding with a perfect fielding percentage (1.0), including seven assists and one double play, the team's efforts on defense could not fully counteract the Marlins' early lead.

Offensively, the Mariners showed patience at the plate by drawing five walks and hitting one home run which contributed significantly to their four runs scored. However, they struggled with runners in scoring position, achieving only two hits out of seven at-bats in such situations which resulted in leaving eight teammates stranded on base.

On the mound for Seattle was Bryce Miller who took the loss after allowing six earned runs over four innings pitched which inflated his ERA significantly. The bullpen provided some relief by holding off further damage from Miami's lineup; they allowed no earned runs over four innings while striking out six batters and maintaining an impressive strikeout-to-walk ratio (3.0).

The Marlins capitalized early in this matchup by scoring five runs within the first two innings which set them up for success throughout this contest despite matching Seattle's hit total of seven. A.J. Puk secured his first win of the season for Miami thanks to his effective relief appearance that helped stave off any potential comeback from Seattle.
