From the get-go, it was evident that the Mariners had arrived with intentions to take control. The game remained scoreless until Seattle broke through in the second inning with two runs and maintained their momentum by adding three more in the fourth inning. The zenith of their offensive showcase came in the seventh inning when they piled on seven runs, followed by another four in the eighth inning to cap off their scoring spree.

Leading this offensive onslaught were Randy Arozarena and Victor Robles, who posted batting averages of .500 and .750 respectively for this contest. On pitching duties for Seattle was George Kirby who took to mound delivering six solid innings which saw him post an earned run average (ERA) of 3.0 for his efforts while dismissing nine batters—a key factor in suppressing Oakland's hitters.

Seattle's bullpen further exemplified depth and skill; Eduard Bazardo and Jhonathan Díaz both recorded ERAs at zero while striking out opponents at remarkable rates showcasing Seattle's robust pitching arsenal.
