Did Mariners' Late Rally Fall Short Against Guardians at Progressive Field?

The Seattle Mariners faced off against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field, ending with a 4-3 score in favor of the home team. This game marked the Mariners' record at 72-64, while the Guardians improved to 68-66.

First Inning


The game began quietly for both teams, as neither managed to score in the first inning. The M’s showed early promise with a hit but couldn't capitalize on it. The Tribe also went hitless, setting a cautious tone for what was to come.


Fourth Inning


By the fourth inning, Cleveland broke through with their first run of the night. A couple of hits allowed them to edge ahead slightly while Seattle's bats remained silent despite efforts from players like J.P. Crawford and Randy Arozarena.


Sixth Inning


The sixth inning saw an increase in intensity as Cleveland added two more runs to their tally thanks to strategic hitting and exploiting gaps in Seattle's defense. Meanwhile, Logan Gilbert's pitching kept things relatively tight for Seattle despite these setbacks.


Seventh Inning


Seattle finally got on board during this inning when Jorge Polanco managed a crucial hit that brought home one run. This sparked some hope among fans that perhaps a comeback was possible against the G-Men.


Eighth Inning


In an exciting eighth inning for Emerald City fans, Julio Rodríguez stepped up and delivered two runs with his powerful swing, narrowing down Cleveland’s lead significantly and setting up what could have been an epic finish.


Ninth Inning


Despite their late-game heroics and rallying efforts led by key players like Cal Raleigh behind home plate defensively throughout much of this matchup – ultimately it wasn’t enough as they couldn’t muster any additional scores during those final moments leaving them just short against resilient opposition from Ohio state capitalizing earlier opportunities better overall tonight here under lights before packed house attendance wise too!
