Marlins Narrowly Miss Victory in 12-Inning Marathon Against Cardinals at loanDepot Park

In a closely contested matchup, the Miami Marlins fell to the St. Louis Cardinals with a final score of 7-6 after 12 innings of play. The Marlins, now standing at a 23-49 record, showcased resilience and determination but ultimately could not secure the win against the Cardinals who improved their record to 36-35.

The game unfolded with both teams locked in a tight battle, exchanging leads throughout. The Marlins' offense was highlighted by their ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities despite accumulating only eight hits compared to the Cardinals' ten. Notably, Miami's performance in clutch situations was evident as they managed three hits with runners in scoring position and secured four RBIs when two outs were on the board.

On defense, Miami committed one error which did not significantly impact their overall solid defensive display throughout twelve innings. Their fielding efforts were underscored by eleven assists and one double play turned over during crucial moments of play.


The highlight for Miami came from their hitting statistics where they demonstrated power by achieving four extra-base hits including one home run that energized fans at loanDepot park. Despite facing strong opposition pitching, Miami maintained an on-base percentage of .286 and slugging percentage of .421 showcasing their potential for offensive production.

As for St. Louis Cardinals, they capitalized effectively on their scoring chances especially during late innings which ultimately led them to victory over Miami Marlins after a grueling twelve-inning contest.
