The game saw the Marlins struggle to find their rhythm at loanDepot park, managing only four hits throughout the nine innings. Despite their efforts, they could only muster two runs in the fourth inning. The team's batting average stood at a mere .138 for the game, highlighting their difficulties in creating scoring opportunities. Their on-base percentage (OBP) was .265 and slugging percentage (SLG) was .172, reflecting an overall challenging day at the plate.

On defense, Miami encountered its own set of challenges. The team committed one error and finished with a fielding percentage of .971. This error contributed to their struggles but wasn't solely responsible for them as they faced a relentless Reds offense that put up eight runs on thirteen hits.

The pitching staff for Miami had moments where they contained Cincinnati's lineup but ultimately gave up eight earned runs over nine innings pitched. The starting pitcher bore most of this burden, allowing six earned runs and achieving an earned run average (ERA) of 13.5 over four innings pitched before handing it over to the bullpen which managed an ERA of 3.6 across five innings.

One bright spot for Miami was Derek Hill's performance; he drove in both Marlins' runs while maintaining a batting average of .250 for this game. Xavier Edwards also showed promise by hitting .500 and posting an on-base plus slugging (OPS) rate of 1.25 despite committing one defensive error.

In contrast, Cincinnati capitalized effectively on their scoring opportunities throughout the game including a significant fourth inning where they scored four times bolstered by thirteen total hits against Marlins' pitchers.
