The Marlins set an aggressive tone early in the game, scoring five runs in the first inning, which laid down a significant marker for their intent. This early surge was complemented by an additional run in the fifth inning, bringing their total to six runs off eight hits without committing any errors throughout the game. The Cincinnati Reds managed to gather ten hits but could only convert these into four runs during the seventh inning, also maintaining a clean sheet regarding errors.

A standout performance came from Derek Hill of the Marlins who not only contributed significantly with his bat by hitting a home run but also drove in four RBIs. His efforts were pivotal in establishing and extending Miami's lead early on. On another note, Jake Burger showcased his power-hitting capabilities by adding two home runs to his season tally, further emphasizing Miami's offensive strength during this match.

On the pitching side for Miami, Valente Bellozo started on a high note contributing to five scoreless innings which played a crucial role in setting up Miami's win. His ERA remained untouched at 0.0 reflecting his effective control and execution on the mound against Cincinnati batters.

Despite their efforts and managing ten hits throughout nine innings, Cincinnati struggled to capitalize fully on their opportunities until breaking through with four runs in the seventh inning. However, it wasn't enough to overcome Miami's established lead.
