The Marlins started strong in the first inning with Otto Lopez driving in a run, setting an early tone for Miami's offense. However, it was not until the fifth inning that Matt Mervis contributed another run with his consistent hitting performance. The sixth inning saw Jesús Sánchez making an impact by adding one more run to Miami's tally.
