Mets Rally to Overcome Pirates in a 6-3 Victory at Citi Field

The Mets' offense came alive late in the game, with pivotal hits that turned the tide. Despite a slow start through five innings, where they only managed two hits and no runs, their bats heated up in the sixth inning when they tallied four hits and three runs. This surge was crucial as it erased a three-run deficit created by the Pirates' own offensive burst in their half of the sixth inning.

Adam Ottavino clinched his first win of the season for his efforts on the mound for New York. In contrast, Aroldis Chapman suffered his first loss after giving up critical runs during his appearance. Edwin Díaz secured his fourth save of this campaign by shutting down any hopes of a comeback from Pittsburgh.

The Mets showcased discipline at bat with an on-base percentage (OBP) of .359 and drew four walks throughout nine innings. Their slugging percentage (SLG) stood at .364 with eight total hits including four doubles which contributed to their six total runs scored.

Defensively, New York maintained composure committing no errors while turning eight assists into outs which helped keep Pittsburgh's scoring opportunities limited. The fielding unit supported a pitching staff that held Pittsburgh to just three hits all game long.

On base paths, aggressiveness paid off for New York as they successfully stole bases on all three attempts made during this matchup. This aspect added pressure on Pittsburgh's defense and contributed to scoring opportunities for New York.

Looking ahead after this solid performance against Pittsburgh, fans can catch The Mets back in action at Citi Field where they will once again face off against The Pirates. Scheduled for April 16th at 7:10 PM Eastern Time, supporters can tune into SNY network to follow live coverage from Flushing Queens as these two teams go head-to-head once more.
