The Mets' offense managed to secure eight hits throughout the game, contributing significantly to their six runs. Despite committing two errors, their performance in crucial moments led them to outscore the Phillies. The scoring began early for the Mets, with one run in each of the first two innings followed by a pivotal two-run eighth inning and another two runs in the eleventh inning that sealed their victory.

The Philadelphia Phillies also put up a strong fight, matching the Mets with eight hits but only managing five runs. Their efforts were hindered by one error which proved costly in this tightly contested matchup. The Phillies' scoring was highlighted by a two-run sixth inning and single-run efforts in both seventh and ninth innings before tying it up late only to fall short in extra innings.

A standout moment for the Mets was their ability to capitalize on opportunities when they arose. They had fifteen at-bats with runners in scoring position (RISP), managing three hits during these crucial moments which contributed directly to their run tally. Additionally, their bullpen played a key role late into night; despite allowing three runs over 5.2 innings pitched, they managed to hold off further advances from Philadelphia.

On defense, both teams showcased solid performances despite each committing errors that led directly to opponent scores; however it was ultimately those moments where defense held strong that determined much of game's outcome.
