The Mets started strong with an early lead. In the first inning, they managed to get on the scoreboard with one run from three hits. This momentum continued into the second inning as they added another run to their tally. By the fourth inning, they had scored their third and final run of the game.

Despite this promising start, things took a turn for New York in later innings. The sixth inning marked a significant shift as Cleveland's bats came alive. The Guardians scored three runs off three hits during this frame, leveling up and then surpassing New York’s lead.

Cleveland continued to apply pressure in subsequent innings. They added another run in the seventh inning and sealed their victory by scoring two more runs in the eighth inning.

New York's pitching staff struggled to contain Cleveland’s offense after initially holding them scoreless through five innings. The bullpen allowed six earned runs over eight innings pitched while striking out eight batters but also giving up eight hits and issuing three walks.

On offense for New York, there were notable performances despite falling short on runs overall. They accumulated eight hits throughout nine innings but failed to capitalize on several scoring opportunities leaving fifteen runners stranded on base by game's end.

Cleveland’s pitching was effective when it mattered most; Hunter Gaddis secured his third win of this season while Cade Smith earned his first save after closing out ninth without allowing any further damage from Mets’ hitters who managed only one hit during that final frame.
