First Inning

The game began with both teams struggling to find their rhythm offensively. The Mets managed just one hit, while the Nationals were held hitless by the Mets' starting pitcher David Peterson, who demonstrated excellent control early on.

Third Inning

The turning point came in the third inning when the Amazins unleashed an offensive barrage. With four hits and five runs scored, including a home run from Brett Baty, the Mets took control of the game. This explosive inning set the tone for what would be a dominant performance by New York.

Sixth Inning

In the sixth inning, Francisco Lindor added to his team's lead with another run driven in. Meanwhile, Peterson continued his strong outing on the mound for New York, keeping Washington's hitters off balance and maintaining a low earned run average of 1.125.

Eighth Inning

Despite being down seven runs entering this inning, Washington managed to score their only run of the night thanks to some timely hitting from CJ Abrams. However, it was too little too late as Ryne Stanek closed out any further scoring opportunities for Washington.

With this victory over Washington at Nationals Park under clear skies and cool temperatures during night play (N), fans witnessed yet another impressive display from Pete Alonso's squad as they look forward towards future matchups against division rivals like these Nats or even other formidable opponents across Major League Baseball (MLB).
