Did Mets' Pitching Hold the Marlins at Clover Park?

First Inning

The New York Mets kicked off their preseason with a game against the Miami Marlins at Clover Park. The Mets, now standing at 0-1, faced a challenging start as they were unable to score in the first inning. The Marlins also remained scoreless, setting an early tone of strong defense from both sides.

Fourth Inning

As the game progressed into the fourth inning, it was evident that both teams were struggling to find their rhythm offensively. However, it was during this period that the Fish managed to break through with a run scored on one hit and one error by the Amazins. This pivotal moment gave Miami a slight edge over New York.

Sixth Inning

The sixth inning saw another run added by Miami without any hits recorded in that segment. Despite solid pitching efforts from Brandon Waddell and Huascar Brazobán earlier in the game, who collectively maintained an impressive earned run average of 0 for their innings pitched, this additional run put further pressure on New York's lineup.

Eighth Inning

In response to Miami's lead, Francisco Lindor stepped up for New York in the eighth inning and managed to secure one run for his team despite no hits being recorded during this time frame. This effort showcased Lindor’s ability to capitalize on opportunities even when offensive support was lacking.

Ninth Inning

Heading into the final stretch of play in Port St Lucie with hopes of turning things around, Juan Soto contributed defensively but could not ignite enough momentum offensively as he ended up hitless throughout his appearances at bat. Ultimately ending with a close scoreline of 2-1 favoring Miami after nine innings played out under sunny skies before an audience numbering just over six thousand fans present there witnessing firsthand what went wrong for Mets today against such formidable opponents like these ones here now too!
