Nationals Shut Out in Atlanta, Braves Clinch 2-0 Victory

The Washington Nationals faced a challenging game against the Atlanta Braves, concluding with a score of 0-2. The Nationals' season record now stands at 24-29, while the Braves improved to 31-21. Despite a solid effort, the Nationals were unable to secure any runs throughout the game.

The Nationals managed to hit seven times but failed to convert these opportunities into scores. Their performance at bat was characterized by an average of .241 and an on-base percentage (OBP) of .267. The team had a total of 29 at-bats and reached base on hits seven times, including one double but couldn't capitalize on these moments to bring runners home. They left ten players on base (LOB) and had three chances with runners in scoring positions (RISP), yet none resulted in runs.

On the pitching side, the Nationals showcased strong skills with their starting pitcher delivering six innings without allowing any runs and maintaining an earned run average (ERA) of 0.00 for this period. The bullpen, however, encountered difficulties in holding back the Braves' hitters during crucial moments. Over two innings pitched by relievers, they conceded two earned runs which ultimately decided the game's outcome.

The Braves capitalized in the seventh inning when they scored all their two runs off three hits against Washington's bullpen pitchers who struggled with a combined ERA of 9.00 for this game. Max Fried from Atlanta was credited with his fifth win of the season due to his effective pitching over eight innings where he limited Washington’s hitters significantly.

Despite their efforts in fielding where they maintained a perfect fielding percentage (FPCT) of 1.0 throughout nine innings and executed one double play successfully without committing any errors, it wasn't enough for Washington to overcome Atlanta's lead.
