The Nationals managed to gather six hits throughout the game but struggled to convert these opportunities into runs. The fourth inning saw their only scoring action when they brought in two runs on two hits. Despite this effort, it was not enough to overcome the early lead established by the Guardians in the first and third innings. The Nationals' pitching staff held their own for much of the game, with their bullpen throwing 2.1 innings without allowing any runs and maintaining an ERA of 0.0 for those innings.

Mitchell Parker was tagged with the loss for the Nationals after giving up three earned runs over his appearance on the mound which lasted for 5.2 innings. On offense, despite facing challenges throughout most of their lineup, they did manage one extra-base hit and had an RBI opportunity during which they successfully drove in one run when runners were in scoring position.

On defense, Washington showed solid performance by not committing any errors and demonstrating effective fielding capabilities that kept them competitive throughout nine innings.

The Cleveland Guardians capitalized on early scoring opportunities which ultimately led them to victory. They scored two runs in both first and third innings before being held scoreless by Washington's pitchers for the remainder of the game. Ben Lively earned his fifth win thanks to his pitching performance that limited Washington's ability to score more than two runs.
