They extended their lead with three more runs in the fifth inning and added one final run in the ninth. The Nationals responded with one run in each of the fifth, seventh, and ninth innings but were unable to close the gap fully.

The Washington team's performance was marked by resilience and strategic plays. Their hitting statistics reveal an average of .188 with six hits contributing to their three runs. Notably, they managed to get on base through four walks and two hit-by-pitches, showcasing their ability to leverage opportunities despite facing tough pitching from the Mets.

On defense, The Nationals displayed proficiency by maintaining an error-free game alongside executing two double plays which underscored their defensive capabilities. However, despite these efforts and maintaining a perfect fielding percentage (FPCT), they could not stifle The Mets' hitters effectively throughout all nine innings.

Pitching for The Nationals showed moments of strength but ultimately struggled against The Mets' lineup. Overall pitching statistics included an earned run average (ERA) of 6.0 across nine innings pitched with six strikeouts but allowed thirteen hits that led to six earned runs by The Mets.
