Throughout the game, the Nationals struggled to find their rhythm at bat, managing only five hits and scoring two runs. Despite their efforts, they were unable to capitalize on their opportunities, leaving seven men on base and achieving an on-base percentage (OBP) of .212. The team's batting average stood at .172 for the game, with two extra-base hits contributing to their total bases count of seven.

The fourth inning saw the Nationals break through with one run, marking their first score of the game. They managed another run in the seventh inning but were unable to sustain any momentum beyond these isolated successes. The team's performance at bat was hindered by striking out eight times and only securing two walks throughout all nine innings.

On the pitching side, Washington's bullpen faced challenges as well, allowing six runs over just 2.2 innings pitched which significantly impacted their ERA (Earned Run Average) for this outing. The bullpen's WHIP (Walks plus Hits per Innings Pitched) soared to 2.625 as they struggled to contain Detroit's hitters.

Conversely, the Tigers capitalized on key moments to secure their win. A pivotal fifth inning saw them scoring five runs which effectively sealed their victory over Washington. Throughout the game, Detroit amassed ten hits and maintained an error-free performance in fielding.
