On the mound for Washington was Jake Irvin who earned his sixth win against six losses this season thanks to his solid pitching over six innings which resulted in only one earned run against him. His ERA now stands at 1.5 with a WHIP of 0.6667 indicating tight control over opponents' hitters.


The Tampa Bay Rays struggled to find their rhythm offensively throughout nine innings managing only two hits against Washington's pitchers who collectively held Tampa Bay's batting average to just .071 for this game.
