The highlight of the game was undoubtedly the exceptional pitching displayed by both teams. The Nationals' pitching staff managed to maintain an earned run average (ERA) of an impressive 2.0 throughout the game, successfully striking out nine opponents while recording a walks plus hits per inning pitched (WHIP) ratio of 1.4444. DJ Herz stood out for his contribution on the mound for Washington, posting an ERA of 3.176 alongside a remarkable strikeout rate of over eleven batters per nine innings.

Despite their prowess on the mound, Washington's offense struggled to gain momentum against Colorado's pitchers. The team was limited to just five hits over nine innings and only managed to put one run on the scoreboard in the sixth inning. Luis García emerged as a bright spot in Washington's lineup, boasting an impressive batting average of .667 and reaching base three times in four plate appearances which resulted in an on-base plus slugging percentage (OPS) of 1.75.

Defensively, José Tena experienced difficulties at third base for Washington with his fielding percentage dropping to .500 after committing one error that led directly to an unearned run for Colorado.

The Rockies made their hits count by driving in three runs from ten hits over nine innings while maintaining a clean defensive sheet without any errors.
