Nationals' Efforts on Mound and Field

The pitching staff for the Nationals showcased commendable performances, particularly from their bullpen which maintained a zero ERA through five innings of work. Mitchell Parker started on the mound for Washington, delivering an ERA of 0.0 across five innings pitched with a WHIP of 1.4 and striking out nine batters per nine innings. Derek Law and Kyle Finnegan from the bullpen contributed significantly as well; Law with an ERA of 0.0 and striking out an impressive 13.5 batters per nine innings while Finnegan also kept his ERA at 0.0 despite taking the loss.

In terms of fielding, several players stood out despite overall team struggles that led to two errors during playtime. Ildemaro Vargas and José Tena both maintained perfect fielding percentages at their respective positions in infield corners while Dylan Crews did his part in center field without committing any errors.

Offensive Highlights Amidst Struggles

On offense, James Wood and Juan Yepez each hit .333 for Washington but were unable to convert these efforts into runs due to limited opportunities with runners in scoring position (RISP). Jacob Young also contributed with a batting average of .250 including one hit that went for extra bases which highlighted his slugging percentage at .500 for this game.

Despite these individual efforts, overall team performance was hindered by inability to capitalize when it mattered most; leaving seven men on base (LOB) throughout ten innings played and failing all eight attempts with RISP which underscored their struggle against Kansas City's pitching staff.
