First Inning

The opening inning set an early tone for the game as Seattle's offense came out strong. The Mariners scored three runs on four hits, immediately putting pressure on Washington's pitching staff. Despite efforts from starting pitcher Mitchell Parker, who had an ERA of 7.714 in his previous outing, he was unable to contain Seattle's lineup effectively.

Fourth Inning

Washington managed to get on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when James Wood hit a solo home run, his first of this matchup. This moment provided a brief spark for the Nats but was quickly overshadowed by Seattle’s continued offensive prowess throughout subsequent innings.

Sixth Inning

Seattle extended their lead significantly during this period by adding three more runs to their tally. The Nats’ bullpen struggled to find consistency; Jackson Rutledge and Andrew Chafin both faced challenges containing Seattle’s hitters despite having decent strikeout rates in prior games.

Eighth Inning

In another display of dominance from Seattle’s side, they added two additional runs due to errors committed by Washington's defense along with timely hitting from key players like Julio Rodríguez and Ty France who consistently pressured Washington throughout each inning.

Overall performance metrics highlighted some areas where improvement is needed for Washington: they left eight runners stranded and had difficulty converting scoring opportunities into tangible results against a formidable opponent like Seattle whose pitching staff kept them largely at bay all evening long.
