Second Inning

In the second inning, the Padres managed to break through first with a run on two hits. This early lead set the tone for what would be a challenging night for Washington's pitching staff. Despite getting two hits themselves during this inning, the Nats couldn't capitalize and remained scoreless.

Middle Innings

The middle innings saw both teams locked in a defensive battle. By maintaining tight fielding and strategic pitching changes, neither side could add runs from innings three through six. Michael Soroka started strong for Washington with an impressive ERA of 1.8 over five innings pitched but received little offensive support.

Seventh Inning

As tension built up into the seventh inning, San Diego added another run on two more hits while keeping Washington's bats quiet once again. This extended their lead and put additional pressure on Washington's bullpen.

Eighth Inning

The eighth inning brought some hope for Nats fans when they finally got on board with two runs from three hits thanks to CJ Abrams' standout performance at bat—his OPS reaching an impressive 1.25—but it wasn't enough to close down San Diego’s lead entirely.

Ninth Inning

San Diego delivered what proved decisive: scoring five runs off five hits during their ninth-inning surge that left no room for recovery by Washington despite having one hit themselves before closing out playtime without further additions onto scoreboard tallying up final numbers reflecting seven total points against them compared only managing couple own efforts throughout entire duration match-up eventful evening overall!
